Subject: [UTSG] Call for papers for the Special issue: User Roles in Cycling Governance: Transitions and Innovations
**with apologies for cross-posting
Dear all,
Please find below a special issue call in the new Elsevier journal Transportation Research Interdisciplinary Perspectives.
<https://www.journals.elsevier.com:443/transportation-research-interdisciplinary-perspectives>
Call for papers for the special issue: *User Roles in Cycling Governance:
Transitions and Innovations*
This special issue leverages scholarship on cycling and uses the bicycle as a lens to explore how users can play a role in accommodating (or rejecting) innovations in sustainable transportation. From debates over definitions of the bicycle as a physical object to exploring practices and meaning of cycling, concepts such as smart cities, socio-technical change, and mobility transitions are explored critically from user, industry, regulatory and governance perspectives. We invite contributions from scholars from diverse disciplines, including but not limited to, urban design, history of technology, transport planning, mobilities studies, politics, and sociology. We encourage multidisciplinary perspectives to explore the relationships between urban planning, cycling and sustainable transport.
Among the types of papers TRIP seeks to publish, this special issue encourages the submission of case studies and research papers using diverse methods and data sources providing insights on user behaviors, attitudes and participation in cycling governance.
All types of contributions pertaining to cycling governance are welcome. We especially welcome papers that address:
1. Best practices supporting institutional transitions to cycling and
other forms of active mobility;
2. Experiments and living labs for testing and refining interventions
for improving cycling accessibility;
3. Cycling as a lens for understanding socio-technical change and
relevant new technolgies to support bicycle transportation;
4. User responses to bicycle policies, innovations and infrastructure
developments;
5. Comparative studies of low cycling versus high cycling communities.
