Suggestions for prayer.
1. We are thankful for the upholding of academic freedom in our Universities and we pray for the raising of Christians working in every University in the UK, Europe and beyond to have this right to enrich their disciplines.
2. The UK and Europe have an equality and diversity agenda protecting Christians from compromising their faith at work, so we pray for Christian staff to meet together in our Universities to be a light to other staff and students, rather than being in isolation.
3. We pray for God to be honoured as the creator and sustainer of all things and the source of all true knowledge, that Christian academics take their responsibility to develop mindset and disseminate knowledge that benefits the world with wisdom.
4. Please pray for the impact on funding of academia, which brings uncertainty to Christians seeking an academic career but that they will find God's purpose in their lives come to pass.
5. Christian academics can face excessive workloads and work environments hostile to their faith, thus please pray for those in places of power and influence that they may bring about change for the good.
6. Students are increasingly facing mental health issues for many reasons, so we pray for provision of support to these students and that Christians in our Universities will be a light in these situations.
7. Universities are a community of international staff and students, where Christian academics inherently have a responsibility to pray for those around us and encourage good quality academic life to many cultures with opportunity to share Jesus by what we do.
