ALPSP Autumn Seminar Update
The Rise of the RFP: How to embrace and get the most out of your RFP processes
Updated programme - new exciting elements added!
Thursday 31 October , London, UK
Check it out here: https://www.alpsp.org/Seminars/The-Rise-of-the-RFP/66222

The aim of this seminar is to provide comprehensive practical support to help attendees choose the right process, and the right partner, for their particular needs. The session will cover: Understanding the terminology: RFPs, RFQs and RFIs, CFBs, IFBs - what do they all mean and what are the differences? What selection criteria should be applied to choose one of these processes to follow? When is a full RFP a good idea, and when is it overkill? What governance/decision making process should you follow? Should you run your RFP process yourself, or should you seek expertise from a consultant? And much more...

Chaired by Nancy Roberts, Director, and Founder of Umbrella; with a brilliant line-up of speakers including Catherine Harding-Wiltshire, BMJ; Andrew Copley, Clays.

I Never MetaData I Didn't like
Wednesday 27 November, London, UK
Check it out here: https://www.alpsp.org/Seminars/I-Never-Metadata-I-Didnt-Like/66221

Metadata is perceived by publishers as hard to do and even harder to do right. Most content is still tagged manually, which can introduce errors. Metadata's purpose is to describe content, and as it permeates throughout hundreds or even thousands of platforms, systems, users, countries, mistakes and gaps are passed along too, which means content is often consistently misrepresented.
What can we each do to invest, prove the ROI and improve the completeness and accuracy of metadata for all research outputs?

Chaired by Ginny Hendricks, Crossref, this promises to be a brilliant seminar with a great speaker line up.

ALPSP UKSG Joint Event: Shifting Centres in Scholarly Communications: Implications and future roles for libraries and publishers
Wednesday 13 November , London, UK
Check it out here: https://www.alpsp.org/Seminars/ALPSP-UKSG-Shifting-Power-Centers/67893

The pace of change in our sector has accelerated - and that change has also become more wide-reaching. We are moving beyond the "fall out" from the digital revolution - and its implications for user behaviours, customer expectations, product formats and business models - into a much bigger shift, where established roles and accepted models are being questioned. Boundaries are blurring, with funders and universities taking greater ownership of how research is communicated, and publishers and libraries exploring new areas in which they can provide services and support. Where does all of this change leave researchers - are they already realising new benefits, or are they suffering from having one foot in the old world and one in the new? What will happen next, and how should scholarly publishers and librarians prepare?

Chaired by Andrew Barker, Liverpool John Moores University join the excellent line-up of speakers - too numerous to mention - for a brilliant one day conference/seminar - you won't be disappointed!
