Dear Davide,
you have to keep in mind that Freesurfer and CAT12 are using different spaces for volume data. Thus, you approach will fail.
Furthermore, the transformation from surface to volume will never work that satisfactorily. The surface is only defined at the small intersection with the volume. Although an interpolation of values from the surface to a 3D volume is possible (and SPM also provides a tool for that: spm_mesh_to_grid.m) the result should be used with caution. You simply have no information about values outside the surface and simply interpolating values cannot reconstruct that information fully.
