Hello Lucy
I have read through your notes for the Symposium- and it would be great
to contribute somehow-
London Drawing has championed life drawing in a contemporary context for
over 10 years-
We devised life drawing workshops at Tate Modern for 6 years- where we
basically ripped up the rule book and used life drawing as a spring
board into conceptual drawing practice using performance/ architecture/
drawing processes and a range of unconventional mediums.
We have also taught more conventional life drawing on the peripheries of
the major London art colleges for around 12 years so have seen the
evolution of life drawing and the demand for life drawing from students
who as you rightly say- have taken the issue into their own hands by
setting up their own classes.
Because we are not hemmed in by the conventions of the larger art
colleges we have been able to approach life drawing with fresh eyes
which has been a really interesting process- combining life drawing and
performance in a variety of contexts.
Im not sure what you need from us to contribute towards this but perhaps
a brief phone conversation might help? I run London Drawing and time is
very squeezed! But if we are able to contribute I would be happy to put
something together for you if you feel what we have to contribute is
relevant- just putting out feelers at the mo!
Tricky to explain all here- but it would be great to have conversation
with you-
Here is a link to our Flickr site which has albums and info about what
we have done over the past few years- our albums have recently been made
private by Flickr so you have to sign in to see them due to issues with
nudity (sigh!) but if you can please take a look. I can send you more
specific info if you are interested / cant access them.
We look forward to hearing from you
Best wishes
Anne
