Dear Stuart, your message makes me think about some recent works developed
here in Brazil.
Sarah Shulist did a research on multilingualism, language policies and
revitalization in schools of São Gabriel da Cachoeira, Amazonas.
Ana Letícia de Fiori studied school and university systems,
interculturality and social chances through indigenous circulation in urban
contexts also in Amazonas, following Sateré Mawé people.
In Brazilian Northeast, Anari Bomfim did a research on Patxohã, the
revitalised language of her Pataxó people, and did it following school
dynamics in their territory.
Also in Bahia, José Valdir Santana studied Tupinambá school, and Vanessa
Moraes is currently studying Kiriri school system (and also their language
revitalization process). Volha Franco discussed school archtecture also in
Kiriri territory. I did a piece of writing on these themes in the last
Anpocs congress, discussing some contemporary trends on language and ritual
revitalization across Northeast, focusing mostly in the region of São
Francisco river where I work with Tuxá people.
I'm sending these works attached below, but unfortunately only Shulist's is
currently in English. I hope it can be useful anyway.
Here the dissertation of Anari Bomfim:
