Data Manager, The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London
As Data Manager, you will join our multidisciplinary team overseeing linked large national databases in close collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) is a professional membership association dedicated to improving women’s health care across the world. We do this by setting standards for clinical practice, providing doctors with training and lifelong learning, and working with partners to advocate for women’s health and health care across their life course. We are a global leader in this specialist area and are in our 90th year, supporting 16,000 members in the UK and internationally.
Funded by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP), the National Maternity and Perinatal Audit (NMPA) is a national audit that evaluates the quality of care received by women and newborns cared for by hospital services in England, Wales and Scotland. Part of the Centre for Quality Improvement and Audit and based at the RCOG, the NMPA is supported by a number of partners including Royal Colleges, Universities and public bodies. Its aim is to assess the organisation of maternity services as well as to provide timely, high quality data that compares the care provided and outcomes achieved by providers of maternity care across a range of audit measures.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop a career in the growing field of health informatics and information technology and contribute to high quality clinical audit and quality improvement projects in women and girls’ health care, to improve outcomes, influence policy and drive positive change across the globe.
As Data Manager, you will play a key role in developing approaches to strengthen the value of our databases for performance assessment and health services research. You will do this by designing and maintaining management infrastructure, carrying out descriptive analyses supporting the production of national reports and other publications and managing the NMPA secure server based within the secure network (NHS N3/HSCN). You will also oversee data management and data protection, and confidentiality and data governance practices.
