The media has been silent about the ?50,000 people made homeless by fire in
Dacca. From the fury of media concern about the Amazon forests one would
imagine that the situation there is even worse. Until we note the paucity
of data, that is. (Silences often speak loudest!)
The only data I have heard has been that there are 80% more Amazon fires
this year than last.

It seems that last year's figures were exceptionally low, and the 70,000
fires observed this year is not vastly atypical. Also, the area covered by
the fires is something like 1/10,000th of the total forest area.
Having said that - Bolsinaro is a b**** and Macron seems to have managed G7
well by isolating Trump on this one AND on Iran.
