Dear All,
LMS Mathematical Symposium Bath 2020 - Call for Organisers
The London Mathematical Society is pleased to announce its Call for Organisers to join the Scientific Committee for the next LMS Mathematical Symposium to be held at the University of Bath in 2020 on the topic of Mathematics of Machine Learning.
The Scientific Committee will comprise a group of Scientific Organisers alongside representatives from the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the Institute for Mathematical Innovation at the University of Bath and the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS), who will provide core funding for the Symposium.
The Scientific Committee will be responsible for designing the workshop programme, including selecting and inviting speakers. The Symposium will be take place in the first week of August 2020. It is followed by a research incubator on the topic of Mathematics of Machine Learning, funded by the EPSRC and organised from Bath.
Formerly known as the LMS-Durham Symposia, the LMS Mathematical Symposia will be held at the University of Bath in 2020. The Symposia are an established and recognised series of international research meetings, since their foundation in 1974, that provide an excellent opportunity to explore an area of research in depth, to learn of new developments, and to instigate links between different branches.
Prospective organisers who would like to join the Scientific Committee should send a brief CV (max. 2 pages) and a covering letter outlining their experience in organising conferences to the Research Grants Committee ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) by 15 September 2019.
The LMS Research Grants Committee<https://www.lms.ac.uk/about/committees/research-grants-committee> will consider all Expressions of Interests to join the Scientific Committee in September with the final Scientific Committee confirmed in October 2019.
Further information about the LMS Mathematical Symposia can be found here: https://www.lms.ac.uk/events/mathematical-symposia If you have any queries, please email [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
We would be grateful if you could pass on this notice to any colleagues who may wish to join the Scientific Committee.
Best wishes
Elizabeth
