We are looking for highly motivated and qualified candidates to apply for funded opportunity to pursue research leading to a PhD in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. We provide a stimulating environment to carry out your doctoral research with members of academic staff active in research across a range of topics from the disciplines of applied mathematics, mathematics education, pure mathematics, mathematical statistics and applied probability.
You will work directly with a member of academic staff and receive research training tailored to your project.

Are you eligible?
To apply for PhD funding (3-years), you’ll need:
at a minimum a good honours degree (1st class or high 2:1, or equivalent). An MSc in a relevant subject is desirable (but not essential). and
to hold an offer of a PhD supervised by a member of staff in the Department of Mathematical Sciences commencing October 2019.
Non-native speakers of English require IELTS 0 overall (6.5 min component score) or equivalent
What funding is available?
We have one award consisting of a full Home/EU fee waiver or equivalent fee discount for overseas students, living costs of £15,009 per year and £2,500 (in total) in Proficio funding, which may be used to ‘buy’ advanced skills training including conferences and travel. Funding will be paid each year for three years of study.
