Trainee, Energy Modelling Visualisation | European Commission | Petten, The Netherlands
As the science and knowledge service of the Commission, the mission of Joint Research Centre is to support EU policies with independent evidence throughout the whole policy cycle.
The Economics of Climate Change, Energy and Transport (ECCET) unit conducts economic analysis of climate and energy policies, both at the EU and global levels, using different data bases and expertise with in-house economic models and econometric tools. In this context, a new EU energy system model POTEnCIA (Policy-Oriented Tool for Energy and Climate change Impact Assessment) was developed, accompanied by the Integrated Database of the European Energy System (JRC-IDEES). While JRC-IDEES was published in 2018, a first publicly available 'Central' scenario is currently developed with the POTEnCIA model.
A close interaction on the new tools with Member States national experts and stakeholders forms part of our commitment to enhance transparency. An interactive webpage with visualisation elements shall be developed to further facilitate these exchanges.
We are looking for a trainee to assist in developing such a webpage that can illustrate the results of the POTEnCIA output in a dynamic manner. This webpage should contain interactive graphs in which the user can select the parameters and the scope to be displayed, building e.g. on the webpage created in the unit for the Global Energy and Climate Outlook.
