An excellent initiative from Scotland!
Why can't TNA launch a similar exercise? I recall suggesting it around two
decades ago and I still feel we need a collection map covering specialist
rather than geographic areas.
A response from TNA staff would be welcome on the forum.
In a personal capacity,

Subject: A Collecting Policy Framework for Scotland's Archives Launch - 5
September 2019 (09:15-11:50), New Register House, Edinburgh
In 2015, Scottish Council on Archives convened a Collecting Policy Working
Group to explore issues related to collecting in archives across Scotland.
Following a sectoral consultation, a Collecting Policy Framework has been
developed. The purpose of the framework is to encourage the exchange of
information and best practice in relation to collecting and collections
development.
SCA is pleased to be launching A Collecting Policy Framework for Scotland's
Archives on 5 September 2019 (09:15-11:50) at a half-day event featuring
varied talks on topics including crowdfunding to open up collections, crisis
management for business archives and collecting within the context of
university, local authority and national collections. This will be a
networking and information sharing opportunity for archive services and any
institution collecting archive material.

The SCA Sixth Annual Members Meeting will follow on immediately from this
event, running from 12:00-12:30. All SCA members are invited to stay on for
it and lunch.
Applications to join the board of SCA trustees are also now open. All SCA
members are welcome to stand as trustees. The board meets quarterly to
discuss operational matters, strategic direction and issues affecting the
sector. Informed by the SCA's charitable purposes, objectives and outcomes,
the board oversees projects, considers proposals for new initiatives, agrees
the annual budget and represents the organisation on external committees and
at a range of events.
Any member interested in becoming a trustee should please email the SCA
office at

All completed nomination papers must be received into the SCA office,
electronically or paper, by 17:00 on Tuesday 27 August 2019
Best wishes,
