Hello, everyone.
I'm a new subscriber to the Wells and Spas mailing list (Andy Burnham from the Megalithic Portal alerted me to your existence this morning), so I'm very much looking forward to finding out more, and hopefully to being able to make useful input where I can (I'm just a private individual with an interest in all things wells, holy wells, megaliths and Anglo Saxon carved stones).
Just to say that I am based in Northumberland, about an hour's drive away from Woodhorn. Not yet been, but have been wanting to visit for some time. If you give me some idea of what information you are looking for, I'm happy to go and see what is available in Stan's working notes. I've had the pleasure of meeting Stan on a number of occasions, as he is the President of the Archaeology Group I used to belong to, and by chance, had emailed him earlier today about trying to identify the location a well called 'Traecan', thought to be in the Tyne Valley, following an enquiry by another Portal member.
I'd also be very interested in seeing Bob's database entries for Northumberland, Cumbria, Durham and North Yorkshire, if that offer still holds. We've (my husband, Andrew and I) have been working mostly from the old Binnall and Dodds antiquarian papers and information held by Pastscape and on old and current OS maps, so 'Wells and Spas' has come as a very pleasant, much welcome, revelation!
