Hi all,
I was a freelance UK science communicator up until a few years ago, when I traded my slides and Ruben's tube for a pitch-deck and stickered laptop - joining a quantum computing startup in the bay area.
Along with a couple of co-authors I recently finished an O'Reilly quantum computing book. The idea was to try and provide something a little more meaningful way than the prevalent hand-waving, yet with less maths (for the most part) than more canonical tomes, through a visual notation and hands-on code samples:

In my opinion, quantum computing treads a poorly-drawn line between over-hype and under-appreciation, with a danger of falling to either wayside. We hoped this book might be a stepping stone to help those likely to actually utilize QPUs (Quantum Processor Units) to properly assess their potential relevance. Although the book itself is of course paywalled, I believe you can read the intro through O'Reilly's online safari portal:

Also the QPU-simulator for which the book provides code samples is freely accessible online here:
https://oreilly-qc.github.io/
I'll actually be adding some docs and slight UI improvements to the simulator in a few days and can update anyone who's interested.
Hope this isn't all too tangential to the noble goals of Psi-Com, I was excited that I might actually have something worth sharing after all these years ;D
Yours,
Nic
