Place-Based Citizen-Science for Wellbeing: Conceptual and practical understandings of ‘place’ for science and society
For a long time, citizen science has been an activity where the general public are involved in making observation, recording natural phenomena and sharing the information to improve our understanding of the world we live in. More recently, citizen science has moved from crowdsourcing of data to thinking about how the role of 'place' can be an effective public engagement strategy for long term citizen science activities.
Place-Based Citizen Science (PBCS) is an emerging field. We're excited to invite you to participate in an in-depth, rich and focused discussion on the challenges of PBCS during our upcoming seminar on "Place-Based Citizen-Science for Wellbeing: Conceptual and practical understandings of ‘place’ for science and society". This is a one-day conference, to be held on 14th of August 2019 at Cardiff University School of Social Sciences.
Everyone is welcome to participate in this event. Are you an academician in the field of citizen science? This is a great opportunity for networking and knowledge sharing. Perhaps you're from a community group and would like to start or broaden your understanding citizen science activity? This could be a great platform for you to gain knowledge and share your experiences!
