Archives and Library Assistant

Salary: £20,000 p.a. (pro rata)
Part-time: 3 days a week
The Linnean Society has a temporary position available for an Archives and Library Assistant. The contract is 18 months, with the possibility of extension, on a part-time basis (3 days). The post-holder will provide support to the Library & Collections Team in facilitating access to our collections through dealing with enquiries, assisting readers in the reading room, cataloguing work and taking part in outreach activities.
This post is suitable for an individual intending to apply for a postgraduate course in Archives and Records Management or in Library Science.
Applicants must have good IT skills, including accurate keyboard skills and familiarity with databases, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. They should possess a first degree in a relevant subject, and have an interest in history and in preserving records for posterity. They need to be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, showing organisational ability to manage a wide range of tasks.
