Dear Sarah
It’s a good questions and one we have been thinking about too at University of Kent. With the help of some academics we are developing a list of alternative publishers which we are happy to share with you https://padlet.com/sf434/5x4ojj7zcnze
I'll look into Scolma as well - thanks Lesley.
We are looking to host a conference on this next spring and hope to have representation from the academic publishing world at that event. WE'll update here once details are finalized but happy to share any knowledge in the meantime.
Best Wishes
Sarah

Thank you for sharing these posts Kevin - both make really interesting reading.
As many universities are, we're bringing more literaure about decolonisation into our collections, and also looking across the curriculum at ways to widen the range of publishers and countries we source resources from, so the 2nd link was really interesting. I wondered if anyone is aware of any publishers / suppliers specifically offering ebook collections focused around academic books sourced outside the standard range of 'Northern' publishers?
Many thanks for any thoughts or ideas on this,
Sarah

I think that there are useful links to be made with the various area studies library groups such as Scolma - who have also just held a conference on decolonization. They tend to have very useful and long standing expertise on dealing with publishers and vendors for print and electronic publications from all over the world, and there is a group for every part of the world.

No problem. I think that there are interesting questions to be addressed about how and where the funny foreign stuff is kept across the UK library sector, and how the related expertise is supported and disseminated. A critical look at collecting triggered by decolonization could do a lot to spread skills in this area more widely.
