Developer/Senior Developer (Ref TW-19-04)
Based in Stirling, UK. Salary range – £20,000 to £44,000 depending on experience.
thinkWhere is one of the UK’s leading Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and consulting companies. Following the delivery of our new, next generation spatial data platform, theMapCloud, and growth in our market we have an exciting opportunity for a Developer/Senior Developer to join our growing team in Stirling.
You will join the Operations team at a very exciting time and will have a key role in designing and building advanced GIS and web mapping applications in a fast-paced Agile environment. You will deliver innovative solutions using leading open source technologies with responsibility for the design, development, integration, testing and maintenance of our products.
Specifically, we’re looking for some of the following skills:
HTML5, CSS3 and strong JavaScript skills
Web application frameworks (ideally Angular with TypeScript)
CSS preprocessors (preferably SCSS)
Version control (Git)
Package management (NPM)
Unit testing
Geospatial JavaScript libraries (OpenLayers, Turf.js)
Hosting with AWS and continuous integration
Designing and developing RESTful HTTP APIs with Python (Flask)
PostgreSQL, PostGIS
GeoServer, MapProxy
To be successful in this role we need someone with proven development experience in some of the above technologies. While experience in GIS is highly desirable, it is not essential. GIS is our bread and butter and we can teach you all you need to know.
