We are looking for a motivated candidate for this exciting opportunity to gain pre-postgraduate training experience as part of the University’s Special Collections team. The Graduate Trainee Archive Assistant will assist researchers accessing the library and archive collections of the Museum of English Rural Life and University of Reading Special Collections and be responsible for answering postal, telephone and e-mail research enquiries. The post holder will also have the opportunity to catalogue and assist with preservation of archives. Training will be provided by an archivist.
You will have good verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively and professionally with enquiries from researchers in a reading room environment. Commitment to providing a professional service for researchers, IT skills – competence in MS Office, use of databases, internet, email
Previous experience of study or working with archives/library materials. This graduate trainee post would offer an opportunity for pre course experience prior to a postgraduate qualification in archives. We welcome BAME applications for this post
