Dear Colleagues,
Please find attached the call for paper abstracts for the second Researching Brexit Network conference, which is to be held at the University of Durham across the 28-29th October 2019. Feel free to circulate this to colleagues and potentially interested parties.
Researching Brexit is an interdisciplinary cohort of post-graduate researchers whose work intersects with the many questions that Brexit brings to the social sciences and related fields. Spanning Politics, Law, Sociology, Geography, Anthropology, IR, Biological Sciences, Agri-food, Marine Planning and more, the Researching Brexit Network is interested in exploring how Brexit challenges public scholarship while also offering new opportunities for experiment and collaboration. Encouraging focusses on both specific subject areas and questions of methodology, this cohort aims to provide an interactive and ongoing space in which to explore and expand the boundaries of research in this politically volatile climate.
This second conference invites interested participants to present on Brexit-related research at all stages of progress, and is particularly interested in bringing into discussion different theoretical and methodological perspectives. We are aiming to create a number of different panel formats that offer the possibility for greater interactivity in addition to more traditional styles, as well as a ‘research speed dating’ event to facilitate wider informal introductions. As such we encourage a broad range of paper submissions, including those with audio-visual and other multimodal or experimental forms.
In keeping with our first conference we will take participants outside of the academy to visit local institutions, spaces and organisations that have a specific stake in Brexit and its related issues. In this capacity we are planning for conference attendees to be provided with a tour of Red Hills, the Durham Miners’ Hall.
Please see the attached document for submission details, and follow researchingbrexit.wordpress.com or twitter.com/ResearchingB for updates. The deadline for submission is the 30th August.
Best wishes,
Alex Kirby-Reynolds
