The University of Bristol wishes to appoint a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in Applied Health Data Science. You will join a dynamic and successful group within the Department of Population Health Sciences in the University of Bristol Medical School. You work with NHS and Local Authority colleagues at local, regional and national healthcare levels to create and exploit opportunities for research based on routinely collected health and social care data and state-of-the-art informatics. The appointment is part of a strategic plan to further strengthen our research excellence in informatics, bioinformatics and data science applied to epidemiological and health services research. We aim to consolidate this expertise and ensure that we are a leading contributor to delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan and to the wider UK health data science research programme through, for example, active participation in the NIHR Health Informatics Collaborative and working closely with Health Data Research UK.
You should have a strong track record in quantitative methods and the use of routine data and other data (particularly linked longitudinal research data) in applied health and care research. We are particularly interested in candidates able to contribute to our system priority areas of healthier childhood, mental health, integrated and optimal care and public health and prevention, developing enabling technologies and methods to support data-driven discovery science. The work will be multi-disciplinary and conducted alongside colleagues affiliated to flagship centres of world-leading research excellence.
