Duties and responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Research Fellow at CLOSER in UCL's Department of Social Science. The successful candidate will contribute to the further development, enhancement and use of the UK's longitudinal studies, with a focus on methodological research and training and capacity building.
The post holder will:
* Conduct and publish high quality research based on quantitative analysis of the longitudinal studies in the CLOSER partnership and elsewhere, including methodological research in the area of data linkage or data collection or study conduct.
* Undertake detailed and precise data management and documentation work to support the release of CLOSER work package outputs for secondary research usage.
* Develop teaching training and capacity building resources, including CLOSER's online Learning Hub for new data users as well as workshops related to areas of methodological research interest.
This post is available from September 2019 and is funded until 30th September 2020 in the first instance.
Key requirements
The post holder must have an excellent academic record, demonstrated by, for example: an outstanding degree result at undergraduate level, a distinction or high pass at masters level, journal papers, working papers or book chapters related to a PhD thesis.
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of advanced quantitative analysis and expertise in statistical software such as R and Stata.
Experience of working with one or more of the CLOSER partner studies and/or other longitudinal studies is desirable.
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (salary £30,922 - £32,607 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
