Dear all
My name is Daniel Connery, I'm a postgraduate student at Robert Gordon University currently undertaking a MSc in library and information studies.
For my dissertation I'm researching how librarians (or those working within other information services), regard academic research. Do they use it? Could it be more useful? More accessible?
Do they even have time to use it? Questions of that nature.
I'm contacting you all today to humbly request your help; as I'd very much like the views of those working within all the various LIS sectors to be properly represented in my final report.
The survey is designed to be completed anonymously, so it will not ask for details of an institution or organisation itself. Please find attached a word document I've prepared for you all which has all the questions I'm asking. I hope it allays any potential concerns you may have.
Please also be aware that there is a small chance that the findings may be published. Previous research in this area, conducted by my supervisor Rita Marcella have appeared in the journal of information science. Should you wish to contact her, her email address is [log in to unmask]
As you will see from the questionnaire attached, it will be very difficult for an organisation or individual to be identified from any of the responses given, if that is indeed a concern.
To help with maintaining anonymity the questionnaire is (very much intended) to be completed online, and is being hosted at this URL:

Thank you for your time, and if you would like any more information, I'd not only be very happy to hear from you, but also to answer any questions you may have about the questionnaire.
Daniel Connery
