The Ruhr University Bochum is one of the leading research universities. The university draws its strengths from both the diversity and the proximity of scientific and engineering disciplines on a single, coherent campus. This highly dynamic setting enables students and researchers to work across traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties.
Applications are invited for a PhD candidate position, which is available immediately or upon mutual agreement. The goal of the project is the targeted development and improvement of monoclonal antibody biopharmaceuticals, in close interdisciplinary collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG. The successful candidate (m/f/d) has a keen interest in biomolecular simulation and in interdisciplinary collaborative research and has a strong background in theoretical chemistry or (bio-)physics, physical chemistry, computational structural biology, and scientific computing.
The Center for Theoretical Chemistry at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) offers an exciting interdisciplinary research environment and excellent facilities including several in-house high-performance computing platforms. RUB is one of Germany's leading universities. All important fields of research are located at one campus. The togetherness of different disciplines and their cultures offers excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations for researchers and students. Bochum offers affordable prices for housing and a broad cultural program.
If the position is funded by third-party funds the employee has no teaching obligation.
PhD candidates (m/f/d) hold (or expect to complete soon) an excellent M.Sc. (or equivalent) degree in chemistry, physics, or a related field. The group language is English, so no German language skills are required – but it’s a great opportunity for you to learn German.
Interested? Submit your application including cover letter (explaining background and motivation), CV, transcripts (including university entrance degree), and the contact details of at least one person who would be willing to provide a letter of reference, preferably via e-mail as one single PDF file to:
