Catalogue & Index Call for Papers

September 2019 (196)

The theme for the September issue is training and outreach. How do you promote your role and activities both internally and externally? Do you run sessions for other members of staff in your organisation so they can better understand the importance of what you do (or even just understand the basics)? How do you keep yourself and your colleagues up to date with relevant changes, for instance with RDA? Do you have experience of running training sessions, and if so what tips would you pass on? Have you tried using online training, and if so what have been your experiences? How do you emphasise your relevance to those who have no idea what you do?

In a world where metadata standards and new technologies can be fast changing we would like to hear about your experiences in keeping up to date, passing on knowledge, and ensuring you and your team know where to look if the answers can’t be found in-house. We would like to hear from you if you give training, or have designed a session to promote your services, or if you just want to talk about your experience in finding out how to keep up. We are looking for papers on all aspects of training, outreach and promotion.

The deadline for this issue is 31st August. Please contact the editors (Karen Pierce: [log in to unmask] and Philip Keates: [log in to unmask]) with proposed papers, any queries, or if you want to offer a paper that does not fit into the theme mentioned. We are always happy to consider papers on topics unrelated to an issue’s theme, especially if it is the result of some research you have conducted, or a project you have been involved in. We encourage people from all sectors to contribute, and actively welcome international contributions as well. Papers can be up to 2,000 words, and we are happy to include a selection of images. Please check our guidance for contributors:

December 2019 (197)

The theme for the December issue is going to be current research. We are interested in hearing from anyone who has conducted original research on any aspect of metadata, cataloguing or indexing. We especially welcome and encourage contributions from students, or those who have recently submitted theses and dissertations, but the call is open to all.

The deadline for this issue is 30th November.
