Senior Research Associate in Medical Statistics, University of Bristol
Closing date for applications Thursday 11-Jul-2019
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented medical statistician (or a closely related field with strong quantitative skills and programming experience) to develop, evaluate and apply statistical methodology to examine causal questions.
Funded by the Wellcome Trust, the post is an opportunity to develop statistical methods and software tools to assess the sensitivity of a study’s conclusions to common sources of bias such as unmeasured confounding, missing data, non-random selection and measurement error. A particular challenge is to ensure that the developed methods and software are accessible to users with limited statistical experience, and that the methods can be feasibly applied to large-scale datasets such as UK Biobank and the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children
The successful applicant will have a PhD (or equivalent research experience) in medical statistics or a related quantitative discipline and a track record of research, including experience of developing statistical methods/software tools and causal inference methodology. They will be interested in methods in medical statistics and using simulation studies to investigate the performance of statistical methods. We are particularly interested in appointing someone with specific knowledge and demonstrable experience of implementing statistical methods in software.
