Dear All,
We (EAO) just received the following message about a developer wishing
to use GPL'd SLA routines in their code, and I thought this list would
be best placed to provide an answer. Please keep Sanjay Bhatnagar cc'd
in your responses.
(Sanjay, I've included you as well on this -- I think the people on
this list should be able to answer your question. You can also
subscribe to it at or view the archives at

Subject: Using parts of SLA library
To: <[log in to unmask]>
Hi,
I am contacting you for information about use of some code from the
StarLink SLA library that is now maintained by EAO.
I have been using the following SLA routines in a GLP'ed software for
over a decade. I am now planning to release that software -- called
"fussy" -- as a GNU software. The Git repos for fussy is the
following:
https://github.com/sanbee/fussy.git
My question is about the license and copyright information at the top
of every file that GNU software need. That information in the current
files I am using is the following:
* P.T.Wallace Starlink 14 October 2001
*
* Copyright (C) 2001 Rutherford Appleton Laboratory
*
* License:
* This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify
* it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by
* the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or
* (at your option) any later version.
*
* This program is distributed in the hope that it will be useful,
* but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of

* You should have received a copy of the GNU General Public License
* along with this program (see SLA_CONDITIONS); if not, write to the

*
*-
GNU requires adding GPL license to it. Is it OK for me to *add* the
following text in each of the files I am using?
*
* Copyright 2019 Sanjay Bhatnagar.
*
* This file is a part of Fussy.
*
* Fussy is free software: you can redistribute it and/or modify
* it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by
* the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or
* (at your option) any later version.
*
* Fussy is distributed in the hope that it will be useful,
* but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of
* MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. See the
* GNU General Public License for more details.
*
* You should have received a copy of the GNU General Public License
* along with Fussy. If not, see <https://www.gnu.org/licenses/>.
*/
Thanks.
Regards,
sanjay
