We are looking for a passionate, experienced and talented individual to join our Science Learning & Public Engagement department at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. Part of Royal Museums Greenwich, this team develops and delivers world-class astronomy and space exploration programmes, resources and media for a range of visitors and audiences. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of the GCSE Astronomy course to a class of mixed-ability students from local schools at the weekend. The post holder will work either Saturdays or Sundays for 30 weeks of the year between September 2019 and May 2020.
We are currently looking for a positive and flexible teacher who keeps abreast of and adopts innovative teaching approaches to deliver one of these classes. While we are keen to identify somebody with experience of teaching GCSE Astronomy, candidates with experience of teaching physics at GCSE level, A-Level or undergraduate level will also be considered. All candidates must be able to demonstrate a firm grasp of the GCSE Astronomy curriculum and appropriate knowledge of the relevant subject matter at interview.
The post holder will work alongside a second GCSE Astronomy tutor and with the wider team, reporting to the Senior Manager for Science Education.
