Hi all,
We have several hundred specimens of lepidoptera, both British and exotic, which have no data but are in good condition. These have been kept for decades, but with recent work, there is no room for these to be retained.
We also have a large number of marine shells (mostly bivalves and gastropods) again with no data, which also need disposal as they are taking up valuable room.
They are un-accessioned items but rather than just give them away to schools or other local interest groups, I thought i'd offer them around to other museums first in case they would be useful either as display or teaching items.
The insects come in clamshell entomology collecting boxes, and the shells are in plastic tubs. They are free to anyone who can collect, and specimens can be picked out if the entire load is not wanted.
If there is any interest, please contact me directly on [log in to unmask] - if there is no interest by the end of August, we'll dispose of them to other interested groups.
Many thanks,
Lee
