Same as Debbie here in Plymouth. We initially had concerns around the potential mix up of ketone and glucose results/use of incorrect test strip for the intended test. We have had the meters for around 3 years. No incidents of this nature until, strangely, one incident in recent weeks which resulted in retraining for that staff member, who was shocked that they had made such an error.
Risk is minimal when using the same meter (assuming appropriate training and competency programme in place), but errors may occur so remain vigilant and promote an open culture of reporting errors and ensure supportive resolution.
Best wishes

Shanna,
We use Abbott Freestyle Precision Pro, which is used for both glucose and ketone testing.
The handsets are configured so that ketones are restricted to certain locations.
Results go directly into the patient record.
Hope this helps. Please get in touch if you would like more information.
Warmest regards
