The Smart Transportation Laboratory (http://smart.lab.mcgill.ca ) at McGill University is seeking one Postdoc researcher to join us (with a preferred starting date on September 2019). The position is available for a maximum of three years; annual renewal is dependent on progress and performance, and career goals of the individual. The position involves research in two machine learning-related projects on (1) spatiotemporal modeling of urban mobility/traffic data and (2) reinforcement learning environment for traffic signal control. Candidates should be able to work independently, and are also expected to collaborate with researchers working on artificial intelligence in Montreal.
For the first project, the following skills and experience are desired: tensor learning, deep learning, Gaussian process, large-scale/online algorithms, modeling spatiotemporal dependencies on networks (e.g., GNN/Graph signal processing), and probabilistic/Bayesian models. A key review: https://arxiv.org/pdf/1808.06865.pdf
For the second project, the following skills and experience are desired: deep learning, reinforcement learning, SUMO, Aimsun, Flow, field implementation with ATC, etc. A key review: https://arxiv.org/pdf/1904.08117.pdf
Application emails (subject: "Prospective Postdoc Associate [Your name]") should be sent to [log in to unmask] with a single pdf attachment including CV (with publications), a brief (one-page) research statement, and contact information for two references.
Postdocs or final year PhD students with strong mathematics/machine learning background are strongly encouraged to apply for the IVADO postdoc scholarship (https://ivado.ca/en/ivado-scholarships/postdoctoral-scholarships ).
