Chelsea Physic Garden are looking for an intern for 4 weeks with the following brief:
Assignment:
Compile data and research information on medicinal plants growing historically and currently within CPG’s plant collections. From this research prioritise those from which established drugs have been synthesised historically from CPG plant collections. Compile research on pharmaceutical companies producing these drugs currently or when first developed and produce a report of the findings.
Working with key CPG staff members including but not limited to the Head of Plant Collections and Gardener/Plant Records Manager and supported by the Director:
Receive and collate existing CPG data and information on medicinal plants grown and any existing research, reports, copies of periodicals etc. on drug synthesis
Carry out gap analysis of research
Carry out research into other botanic gardens and organisations that hold medicinal
plants collections focussing on drug development
Carry out associated research on agreed list of medicinal plants and drugs to establish
links to pharmaceutical companies that historically developed and/or currently produce
key drugs or medical remedies from plants or synthesised from plants.
Prepare a report of the findings.
