The Museum of Childhood in Edinburgh has a large doll collection with some interesting home-made examples - they might be able to help? https://www.edinburghmuseums.org.uk/venue/museum-childhood

Hi all
This ‘doll’, seemingly of a beggar with bowl and a sack over his shoulder, is made out of a slice of bone. Has anyone seen anything like this before or have any idea about it or where I may go about discovering more?
Also, any clues on the date. He seems to be sporting an early 18thC cravat but also rather hard to discern (also I’m not a great dater of clothing!)
All comments, no matter how clueless welcome!
