Hi,
Anke Bruning-Richardson (cc-ed) did make a quilt for her research on brain tumors, asking for contributions from individuals: https://www.leeds.ac.uk/forstaff/news/article/5687/a_patchwork_of_feelings
written up in Brain Tumour Magazine: World Edition: https://issuu.com/ibta-org/docs/ibta_2018/84
and while I don't have a picture of the finished product, it was exhibited here:

Thank you and best wishes,
Alexa

I think that this is a wonderful idea. As a fellow quilter, I have often thought about, and once even planned out on paper, a quilt about the use of health data in research. But you have actually done something! Well done

Subject: [PSCI-COM] A visual and tactile form of science communication - quilting
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share with you a novel form of science communication - a PhD quilt! https://imgur.com/36KGDDD
https://blogs.kent.ac.uk/graduateschoolnews/2019/05/01/kent-phd-quilt/
My aim was to provide an opportunity for PhD students to explore alternative ways of communicating their research. I've been quilting for a few years, and create textile portraits of endangered species to help raise awareness and funds for them. I've found that quilting is both a really fun pastime, and a great way to engage different people in my work.
I received funding from the University of Kent to put on workshops where PhD students could create a quilt block that represented the core concepts of their research, then took them away and sewed them up.
You can see close ups of each block here: https://www.kent.ac.uk/graduateschool/news/pgexperience.html. If you click on the block it will take you to a research summary from each PhD student.
Best wishes,
Laura
