Good morning
You may have noticed that ICM is trying something new for the congress in Bali: Three-minute research or practice innovation
This borrows from the "three minute thesis" (3MT) format and is an exercise in communication. It requires presenters to communicate their ideas in an engaging way. If you haven’t seen any 3MT please check them out on youtube. Here is an example
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwclUDlIugA
This could be an exciting addition to the congress and we hope you will support the initiative by submitting an abstract for this format or encouraging others to. The video upload is optional (an abstract is enough) and presenting in this format will not limit your opportunity for submitting abstracts in other formats also.
Instructions from ICM website
Abstract needs to be clear and address:
Background
Description of research or innovation
How it was done
Significance to midwifery
Uploaded video (optional) needs to conform to the following rules:
A single static PowerPoint slide for background is permitted (no slide transitions, animations or 'movement' of any description, the slide is to be presented from the beginning of the oration).
No additional electronic media (e.g. sound and video files) are permitted.
No additional props (e.g. costumes, musical instruments, laboratory equipment) are permitted.
Presentations are limited to 3 minutes maximum.
Presentations are to be spoken (e.g. no poems, raps or songs).
Reviewers will be scoring abstract and videos in relation to the following criteria:
There is a clear purpose
Logical sequence
Implications for midwifery practice, women and families, education, research or policy as relevant
Engages the audience
Warm regards
