Dear All,
If you who were unable to attend Larry Wolff's Arts and Humanities
Prokhorov Lecture at Sheffield a while back, here's the interview I did
with him:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olih2S0y-8I
(part 1, on Wolff's book "Child Abuse in Freud's Vienna"; the interview
also addresses Masson's "The Assault on Truth")
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phe8s55YA84
(part 2, on Wolff's book "Inventing Eastern Europe", which inter alia
looks at Casanova's "Memoirs" and Voltaire)
ABOUT OUR SPEAKER
Larry Wolff is Professor of History at New York University.
His bestselling "Inventing Eastern Europe: The Map of Civilization on
the Mind of the Enlightenment" explores Western perspectives on Eastern
Europe as manifestations of a kind of 'Orientalism' (Edward Said).
Among his other books are "The Idea of Galicia: History and Fantasy in
Habsburg Political Culture" and "Child Abuse in Freud's Vienna".
Larry Wolff also wrote the introduction to a new edition of Leopold von
Sacher-Masoch's classic 1870 novella "Venus in Furs".
