External Examiner Required: PGCert Research Methods
School of Education, University of Gloucestershire
The School of Education at the University of Gloucestershire is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the PGCert Research Methods. The level 7 course includes the following modules:
• MR401: Philosophies and Approaches to Research
• MR402: Methods and Methodologies
• MR403: Reading for Research
• MR404: Independent Study
The modules serve MA by Research and Doctoral students across all of our Academic Subject Communities at the University of Gloucestershire, and are taught by an interdisciplinary team of academic staff.
External Examiners are invited to comment on assessment briefs, are required to undertake an audit of samples of student work, to attend assessment boards and to write an annual report.
Newly appointed external examiners will be invited to a centrally-organised induction event. This involves an introduction to the University’s quality assurance processes, academic regulations and related policies and procedures, together with an introduction to the PGCert Research course and teaching team.
External Examiners are paid an annual fee of £425 (£475 for the first year) and will have reasonable travel/accommodation expenses reimbursed.
The appointment will commence from 01 August 2019 for a period of four years up to 31 July 2023.
