Dear List Members,
I am writing to inform you about an exciting, free, on-line short course which is aimed at migrant care workers who work with older people in care homes or at the client's home.
- The course requires a participant to normally spend 1 hour per day for 6 weeks (5 days per week) .
- If a participant cannot spend the 1 hour on a particular day s/he can catch up during the two days of the week which are normally free from study.
- The participant needs to have access to the internet and can study using a computer or a mobile phone.
- The participant can study anywhere and any time, for example in the train on the way to work, during the lunch breaks, during a night duty when most clients are asleep, at home after work, during their free time etc.
- The first week is devoted to mastering the skills required to navigate the materials, to become familiar with the aims of the course, how to participate and what is required to attain the certificate of achievement.
- Week 2, 3, 4, 5 deal with the content which is activity based. All materials needed for the study are provided within the course or accessed by clicking on links which take one to websites which contain the material. Week 6 is about catching up with any study the participant did not have time to do in the previous weeks, maybe download materials which s/he want to keep or share with colleagues in the future, and completing a small assessment and evaluation questionnaire.
- The course requires the participants to reflect on their learning by writing an entry on the discussion boards which the facilitators and other participants can read and provide feedback.
- The participants will be studying with many people from across the world.
- The course will be facilitated by a number of trained facilitators.
