Salary: £43,000 to £50,000, depending on experience 
Location: London, 66 Portland Place 
Hours: 35 hours per week, 12 months fixed-term contract

The British Architectural Library, founded in 1834 as part of the Royal Institute of British Architects, is an Arts Council of England Designated Collection and Accredited Museum. It houses c.4million items dating back to 1478 and ranging from books, journals and photographs to drawings, archives and architectural models. The collections are dispersed across five sites and are accessible via a public reading room at 66 Portland Place and a RIBA study room in the Henry Cole Wing of the V&A Museum as part of the V&A+RIBA Architecture Partnership. 

You will be responsible for the product ownership, strategic development and operational delivery of Library management and discovery systems and will lead and develop public-facing teams at 66 Portland Place providing a range of physical and remote information, imaging and content development services to the RIBA’s 44,000 members, and to the wider public. 

The successful candidate will join us as we embark on a substantive review of our systems and collection strategies. As a senior library or archive professional, candidates will have extensive experience of multi-function leadership, ideally within a cultural heritage or special collections setting. A proven track record in systems, staff, project and financial management, evidenced through demonstrable success in translating strategic vision into practical outcomes, will be essential. 

The role is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract pending the outcomes of an ongoing organisational design review.
