Dear all,
This is an e-mail advertising a conference on Post-Patriarchal Masculinities on June 6th 2019 held jointly between SOAS and UCL. Registrations close on Friday 17th May, so if you're interested in coming please book yourself a place via our web-page here<https://sites.google.com/view/post-patriarchal-masculinities/home>!
The conference itself will be held between SOAS and UCL on Thursday 6th June. The day itself will include:
* Zero conference fee! We're instead collecting donations for the Campaign Against Miserable Living (CALM) and running the event at as close to zero-cost as possible.
* Keynote speeches from the excellent Professor Andrea Cornwall and Oxfam's Nikki Van Der Graag.
* Panels on Contemporary Politics, Counter-normativities and Health, Minds and Bodies. We're delighted to have a diverse range of topics ranging from an ethnography of testosterone, Ukrainian paramilitary groups and masculine identities in drag performance.
* A collaborative, vegan-friendly pot-luck lunch. No sad conference sandwiches to be found!
* Breakout sessions with networking space, open mic therapy and a hard-hitting film on alt-right masculinities by the artist Ed Fornieles<https://www.instagram.com/eddfornieles/?hl=en>.
* An evening comedy fundraiser event for the Campaign Against Miserable Living (CALM)<https://www.thecalmzone.net/>, featuring the excellent Jacob Hawley<https://www.jacobhawley.co.uk/> and Sophie Duker<http://avalonuk.com/clients/sophie-duker/>. Both are extremely talented professional comedians that have won awards and appeared on national television, so we're extremely lucky to have them with us!
All in all, it's shaping up to be an exciting, full day and we'd be delighted to have you there. If there are any questions whatsoever, please do just drop me a note.
Cheers,
Dan and Amir
