After years of European initiatives in investigating and experimenting with approaches to incorporate and anticipate societal needs and expectations better in research and innovation -- be it under the labels of Social Innovation, Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), Open Science, or the Impact Agenda in the UK -- European science policy is now moving to the next stage.
