A postdoctoral fellowship is available at Sandia National Laboratory in Livermore California in the area of Gas Phase Chemical Physics. The work will be under the direction of Dr. David Chandler and Dr. Jonathan Frank. The research would be focused on understanding chemistry (both neutral and electron driven) and energy transfer dynamics associated with gas phase chemical reactivity of plasmas and combustion environments. Molecular beam techniques combined with Velocity Mapped Ion Imaging techniques are widely used in the laboratory to study such processes as photochemistry, collisional energy transfer of electronically excited molecules, dissociative electron attachment, electron scattering and bimolecular reactions. In addition, development of new multiplexed, time-resolved, optical diagnostic techniques is underway. The candidate would be expected to contribute to ongoing projects as well and conceptualize and begin their own projects. A Sandia postdoctoral position pays $91K per year. If interested please apply to position apply to job posting 666306 at the Sandia National Laboratory web site.
