Upon the completion of term of the current External Examiner in June 2019, Ulster University, Northern Ireland, seeks expressions of interest for the position of External Examiner for their FdSc Horticulture programme. This programme, which is validated by Ulster, is delivered by the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise [CAFRE] at their Greenmount campus near Antrim in Northern Ireland. The annual Board of Examiner's meeting is normally held in early June at Greenmount. The Greenmount site is especially close to Belfast International Airport but is also easily accessible from Belfast City Airport.
The University will reimburse reasonable expenses for attending the annual Board of Examiner’s meeting, held in September each year, and would be pleased to arrange travel and overnight accommodation if required, as well as providing payment of an External Examiner fee. An induction to the role of External Examiner will be organised at Ulster and all reasonable expense shall be reimbursed for attendance.
As a minimum, External Panel Member nominees should have:
• Current knowledge of working in UK Higher Education.
• Understanding and experience in teaching and assessing UK academic programmes at levels 4 and 5 (Foundation degree)
• Knowledge of the subject area of Horticulture
• Membership of the HEA.
