Dear All,

Thanks for the great meeting and follow up.

I am new to the association but have a bit of experience in another context, the NECS Cinema and Contemporary Visual Arts workgroup, which gathers scholars/practitioners, artists and curators, and has been addressing very similar issues in the past years. I thought to mention this here because alongside organising a proper BAFTSS event (I'd also be for one instead of two), perhaps it could be a good idea to share details of upcoming events that might be of interest to the SIG members.

Now, with the CCVA we happen to have a workshop in the pipeline that tackles some of the question raised during the SIG meeting and informing your event proposal. It is going to be on June 15th during the NECS conference and the list of participants include Paula Albuquerque (Amsterdam University/artist), Daniel Kulle (University of Hamburg/filmmaker), Greg de Cuir Jr (curator), Elizabeth Cadena (UNAM, Brazil), James Snazell (Hedge Hill University) and myself. Anyone in attendance, do come along and say hi.

Best wishes, Miriam

    Dear All,

Great to see you at the Practice SIG and thanks John for circulating the meeting notes and a draft of our original event idea.

I've just drafted an application for the event idea we discussed at the SIG meeting on the new SIG Application Form and put it on Google Drive as an editable document here: https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fdocument%2Fd%2F1-sziIPE5iyGL4gXXHOXArmCcpcTPFBhWLsSm7VAYoWw%2Fedit%3Fusp%3Dsharing&data=02%7C01%7Cac4644%40coventry.ac.uk%7Caa1328e97141429542a708d6cc83c1b6%7C4b18ab9a37654abeac7c0e0d398afd4f%7C0%7C0%7C636921263760018094&sdata=mNcMcNzw9Dc3ZH1NJfoDjNm8wCypm94jMLaP55ikl40%3D&reserved=0

For the moment I've called it: "Academic Filmmaking: Practice/Theory Interventions" but very open to better suggestions.

So we need to make some decisions and take some actions:

    1. Shall we have one big one or two smaller events? My instinct is one big one so as not to crowd the market, but open to discussion.

    2. Who / where will host? If anybody is interested in getting involved in organising / hosting then it would be great to delegate!

    3. What's the best mechanism for doing this - I suggest SIG members pitch for hosting the event outlining budget and what support their institution, then we discuss via this list?

    4. Perhaps if you are interested you could download the draft form from the Google Drive and populate it with your proposed format/budget, etc and share the link here for discussion?

Very excited to have such a dynamic set of people and really hope to maximise on this to get this rolling for the Practice SIG this year!

    Very best wishes,

    Charlotte
