Duke-NUS Medical School embodies a strategic partnership between Duke University and National University of Singapore (NUS). It works closely with the Singapore Health Services (SingHealth) cluster, which is a network of national specialty disease centres, hospitals and polyclinics, to advance medicine and improve lives through cutting-edge research and education.
The Centre for Quantitative Medicine (CQM) is an academic centre for quantitative scientists and strives to bring the quantitative science and biomedical research communities together. It engages in methodological research and collaborative clinical research and offers a PhD specialty track in Biostatistics and Health Data Science.
We invite applications from outstanding candidates with a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science or Epidemiology (with a strong quantitative focus) for an Assistant or Associate Professor position (non-tenure research track). The position requires experience in methodological research in the biomedical context and a substantial publication record in peer-reviewed statistical, data science, epidemiological and biomedical journals. Teaching and/or mentorship experience will be a plus. While candidates with expertise in all areas of Statistics / Biostatistics / Data Science / Epidemiology are welcomed to apply, preference may be given to candidates with expertise in topics like analysis of image and functional data, Bayesian modelling and computation, machine learning and artificial intelligence in healthcare applications. Job Responsibilities:
• Conduct methodological research and engage in competitive research grant application
• Teach courses and supervise PhD students in the PhD track in Biostatistics and Health Data Science
• Provide mentorship to junior statisticians and biomedical researchers in collaborative projects
• Undertake any other appropriate duties as assigned by the Director of the centre
Job Requirements:
• PhD in Statistics / Biostatistics / Data Science / Epidemiology (with strong quantitative focus)
• Good track record in publications
• Strong grounding in general statistical theory and methods
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate well with clinicians and statisticians, both verbally and in writing
• Preferably with a track record in applying for and securing grants as a principal investigator or part of a team
