We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor or Research Fellow who will contribute to large-scale epidemiological studies of obstetric and gynaecological services in the UK. The common research theme is identifying determinants of variation in treatments and outcomes through analyses of linked national administrative and clinical data sets ("big data").
The research will also address key methodological challenges, including using data science methods to generate code sets to identify disease conditions, treatments and outcomes in electronic health records; handling data records with missing or erroneous data using record linkage to combine datasets, developing risk models; and implementing outcome monitoring systems.

The post holder will be part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians based at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
There is an expectation that the post holder will contribute to the wider academic activities of the Faculty of Public Health and Policy.
Applicants should have a postgraduate degree in epidemiology, statistics, or a related discipline along with experience of analysing large complex dataset.
This post will be based in London and is available on a full-time basis from 1 May 2019 until 29 February 2020. The salary will be on the LSHTM Academic Pathway Scale at Grade 6, £39,304-£44,634 for a Research Fellow and Grade 7, £45,878 - £52,520 for Assistant Professor per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year. In addition to this there are discretionary "Director's Days". Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
