ABOUT THE ROLE:
You will join the Biostatistics Research Group in the Department of Health Sciences to develop and carry out research, contributing as a team member to the Cancer Research UK project ("Providing detailed insight into the impact of a cancer diagnosis across a full pathway for cancer patients: development and application of novel methodology"). The post will involve the development and application of statistical methods using population-based cancer data. The post will require expertise in biostatistics/cancer epidemiology/applied statistics.
The aim of the project is to provide detailed evidence into the impact of a cancer diagnosis on patients across a full pathway since cancer diagnosis, determining both the impact on survival (and the cause of death), and the quality of life. Methodological developments will be made in better estimating loss of life expectancy and loss of quality life after cancer diagnosis. Further, the project aims to assess the long-term impact of a cancer diagnosis on other cause mortality. The project will innovate methodological developments to provide relevant information for patients, clinicians, and policy makers through the different phases after cancer diagnosis.
ABOUT YOU:
A degree level education in a subject with substantial mathematics or statistical content is essential for this role. For grade 7, you will have a PhD (or relevant MSc plus equivalent research experience) in a relevant area (medical statistics / cancer epidemiology) and be able to provide evidence of research productivity (including high-quality research publications, presentations).
