Dear Colleagues,
I hope this email finds you well. I am pleased to highlight that the ESA Research Network on Ageing in Europe is seeking new Board members. In the first instance, this will be for a two-year period from January 2020 to December 2021.
The Network is a thriving community, comprising 128 academics and researchers from 18 countries. Board members assist with the coordination of the Network. This involves maintaining our communications via a regular newsletter, and social media outputs. Assisting with the delivery of our biennial midterm conference and PhD workshop is a further feature of the role. These events have been delivered with great success over recent years, embracing the contributions of academics, researchers and students from across Europe (and beyond).
Board Members are from a broad range of disciplinary backgrounds, including sociology and related social sciences. The positions are open to academics/researchers of different levels of seniority, from early-career researchers to lecturers and professors. They key requirement is an enthusiasm for ageing research that can be applied to positive effect within the Network.
If you would like to apply to become a Board member, then we should very much welcome your expression of interest. This should be provided to us in a short covering letter (two sides of A4 maximum) stating your reasons for applying and what you can offer the Network, accompanied with your CV. The current Board will review the applications, and candidates who are successful will be invited to deliver a short (5-minute) presentation. This will take place during the Ageing in Europe Network meeting at the ESA conference in Manchester this August. This presentation will outline your professional background and relevant knowledge/skills. (Candidates who are not attending this conference can instead provide a video clip that will be shown at the meeting.) Following these presentations, all attendees at the Network meeting will be invited to ratify the new appointments.
If you would like to apply for the position of Board member of the Research Network on Ageing in Europe, please send your CV and covering letter to: [log in to unmask] by June 1, 2019. If you would like any further information on the application process and Board member role, please do not hesitate to contact me.
With best wishes,
Kind regards
Prof. Dr. Dirk Hofäcker
