Hi Debbie,
Yes- it is possible to participate in an EQA scheme. Having multiple sites does bring a multitude of issues that need consideration such as training, troubleshooting, transport and collating results (paper reports versus online reporting/ email). Many samples and reports do get lost in the post, and if a ward requires support is it often difficult to troubleshoot when they are at a hospital site over an hour away (so we rely on telephone support). We also struggle with not having enough staff in our POCT department and running EQA schemes across multiple sites is a large undertaking (packaging samples, chasing results, printing letters/ reports). We run most of our EQA schemes from a single hospital site.
Regards,
Gemma

Thank you Gemma,
Is it safe to assume you run an EQA scheme for the meters too?

We provide the same level of service across all sites which includes training, maintenance and support. We would not have been able to do this if we did not have a connected glucose meter system.
