We use a similar system to Tony where the main staff ID badge has the POCT barcode added to the reverse, but there are still some separate POCT ID badges out there that we haven't managed to update yet.
We've also had some bright spark photocopying their barcode and pinning it up next to the blood gas analyser - so like Tony says, be vigilant!
Best wishes,
Lesley

Hi Darren
Our Trust has blood tracking kiosks and every staff ID badge has a barcode printed on the reverse. This is generally used for all POCT devices as well. Badge sharing is less likely because this is the staff member's personal security badge that will give them swipecard access to car parks and restricted areas in the hospital. However, it can be photocopied so this needs policing as normal.
I would check with your information governance team as to whether using payroll numbers is allowed. I suspect not as this could be deemed too sensitive to display in this way.

Hi Collective brain,
I wondered what format or systems used for creating barcode numbers for the operator ID to discourage password sharing on POCT devices. I have heard of things like the person's payroll number is used in one Trust - If so I would like to hear from you also. Many thanks!
Kind regards,
